THE PLANETS
In astrological terms, 'the planets', merely for convenience, refers to the Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune and Pluto. Astrologers are completely aware that the Sun and Moon are not planets, but it is a traditional term. Originally, the word 'planet' meant 'wanderer' in Greek and referred to those celestial bodies which appeared to 'wander' across the sky along a certain path (the ecliptic) as opposed to the 'fixed' stars behind them which appeared not to move at all. We're also very aware that Pluto is now referred to as a 'dwarf planet' alongside Ceres, having been 'downgraded' in 2006, but this does not affect it's astrological interpretation.
